# Mixpanel Integration (Alpha)

> Connect BuildBetter with Mixpanel for advanced product analytics and user behavior insights

Integrate BuildBetter with Mixpanel to gain deep insights into user behavior, product usage patterns, and engagement metrics. Track how your team and customers use BuildBetter and make data-driven decisions.

## Setup Instructions

### Prerequisites

* An active BuildBetter account
* A Mixpanel project with API credentials
* Admin access in both platforms

### Connecting Your Account

1. Navigate to **Settings → Integrations** in your BuildBetter dashboard
2. Find and select **Mixpanel** from the analytics integrations
3. Enter your Mixpanel Project Token and API Secret
4. Configure which events to track (or select "Track All")
5. Click **Connect** to activate the integration

### Setting Up Event Tracking

After connecting:

1. Go to the **Event Configuration** tab in the Mixpanel integration settings
2. Choose which BuildBetter events to track:
   * User sign-ins
   * Call recordings
   * Summary generation
   * Document creation
   * Chat interactions
   * Custom events
3. Save your configuration

## Usage

### Tracked Events

The integration automatically sends these events to Mixpanel:

| Event               | Description                           |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| `call_recorded`     | When a meeting recording is completed |
| `summary_generated` | When an AI summary is created         |
| `document_created`  | When a document is generated          |
| `chat_started`      | When a chat thread is initiated       |
| `chat_message_sent` | When a message is sent in chat        |
| `folder_created`    | When a new folder is created          |
| `call_shared`       | When a call is shared with others     |

### User Properties

The following user properties are synced to Mixpanel:

* User ID
* Email
* Name
* Organization
* Role
* Sign-up date
* Subscription status
* Last active date

### Creating Mixpanel Reports

With BuildBetter data in Mixpanel, you can:

1. Create custom funnels to track user journeys
2. Build retention reports to measure ongoing engagement
3. Set up cohort analysis to compare user groups
4. Create dashboards for key BuildBetter metrics

## Troubleshooting

### Events Not Appearing

* Verify your Project Token is correct
* Check that the events are enabled in your configuration
* Look for any API errors in the integration logs

### User Identification Issues

* Ensure consistent user IDs between systems
* Check for any conflicts in identity resolution
* Verify user profile sync settings

## Data Privacy Considerations

* Review what user data is being shared with Mixpanel
* Consider enabling IP anonymization if required
* Set appropriate data retention periods in Mixpanel
* Ensure compliance with applicable privacy regulations
