# Microsoft Excel Integration (Alpha)

> Export BuildBetter data to Excel for detailed analysis and reporting

BuildBetter's Excel integration lets you export recordings, transcripts, summaries, and analytics data to Microsoft Excel for in-depth analysis, custom reporting, and sharing with stakeholders.

## Features

## Setup Instructions

### Prerequisites

* An active BuildBetter account
* Microsoft Excel (desktop application or Microsoft 365)
* Appropriate export permissions in BuildBetter

### Enabling Excel Export

1. Navigate to **Settings → Integrations → Office** in your BuildBetter dashboard
2. Find and enable the **Microsoft Excel** integration
3. Configure your default export preferences:
   * Default file format (XLSX, CSV)
   * Include headers option
   * Timestamp format
   * Text formatting preferences
4. Save your settings

## Usage

### Manual Data Export

Export data on-demand:

1. Navigate to **Recordings**, **Folders**, or **Reports** section
2. Select the items you want to export
3. Click the **Export** button and select **Excel**
4. Choose export options:
   * Format (XLSX, CSV)
   * Data to include (metadata, transcript, summary, signals)
   * Time range
5. Click **Export** to download the Excel file

### Call Transcript Export

Export detailed call transcripts:

1. Open the call recording you want to export
2. Click the **Export** button
3. Select **Excel** as the export format
4. Choose transcript options:
   * Include speaker identification
   * Include timestamps
   * Include confidence scores
   * Format by speaker or chronologically
5. Download your transcript as an Excel spreadsheet

### Bulk Call Export

Export multiple calls at once:

1. Go to **Recordings** or a specific **Folder**
2. Select multiple recordings using checkboxes
3. Click **Bulk Actions → Export to Excel**
4. Configure what data to include
5. Download the consolidated Excel file

## Advanced Usage

### Scheduled Exports

Set up automated exports:

1. Navigate to **Settings → Scheduled Tasks**
2. Create a new task, selecting **Excel Export**
3. Configure:
   * Schedule (daily, weekly, monthly)
   * Data to include
   * Filter criteria (tags, folders, date range)
   * Delivery method (download, email, or cloud storage)
4. Save your scheduled export

### Custom Report Templates

Create and use custom Excel report templates:

1. Go to **Settings → Report Templates**
2. Select **Create Excel Template**
3. Design your template with placeholder fields
4. Save and use your template for future exports

## Troubleshooting

### Export Failures

* Check file size limitations (large exports may need chunking)
* Verify you have proper export permissions
* Ensure you've selected valid data for export

### Formatting Issues

* Try different export formats (XLSX vs CSV)
* Check for special characters in transcript data
* Verify Excel version compatibility

### Large Dataset Handling

* Use pagination or date filtering for very large exports
* Consider using scheduled exports during off-hours
* Export to multiple files for extremely large datasets

## Limitations

* Maximum export size: 100,000 rows per export
* Rich formatting preserved only in XLSX format
* Some features require Microsoft 365 subscription
