# Data Retention & Deletion Policy Summary

## 🗃️ Retention Policy

Build Better, Inc. retains customer data **only as long as necessary to fulfill a business, contractual, legal, or regulatory obligation on behalf of the customer**.

> 🔁 Once the customer terminates their account or requests deletion, data is no longer required to fulfill any business obligation **for that customer** — and is **therefore deleted**.

* **Personally Identifiable Information (PII)** is deleted or de-identified once it no longer has an active business purpose.
* Specific retention timelines vary by data type and system (see the Retention Matrix in the full policy).

## ✅ Account Cancellation & Deletion

> **When a customer cancels their account or requests deletion, Build Better, Inc. automatically deletes all associated data within 60 days.**

* Manual deletion is performed across systems.
* If required by law or contract, some data may be retained beyond this period.

## 🔐 Secure Disposal

* Confidential and restricted data is always securely deleted.
* Paper records are shredded; digital devices are wiped or physically destroyed.
* Certified e-waste partners are used when necessary, and certificates are retained for one year.

## 🔁 Annual Review

Build Better, Inc. management conducts an **annual review** of data retention and disposal practices to ensure compliance and relevance.
