Universal Search
Understanding BuildBetter’s universal search capabilities and options
Universal Search
BuildBetter’s universal search lets you find content across your workspace—including recordings, chats, documents, folders, signals, companies, people, and team activities—using a single, semantic search bar.
For advanced filtering (e.g., by date, participant, or tag), use the filters available in the Recordings view. For filtering signals, use the Signals view.
How to Use Universal Search
- Enter a keyword, phrase, person, or tag in the search bar on the main search page.
- Toggle which content types you want to search (e.g., recordings, documents, signals, etc.).
- Review the results and click to open any item.
Universal search is best for finding items where your query appears in the title, transcript, tags, or other indexed fields. It is not designed for qualitative or intent-based queries unless those exact words or phrases are present in your data.
Example Queries
- “Jane Doe” (finds calls, chats, or documents involving Jane Doe)
- “integration feedback” (finds content where this phrase or similar words appear)
- “security policy” (finds documents or calls with this phrase in the title or transcript)
- “renewal” (finds all items mentioning ‘renewal’)
Note: For qualitative or intent-based queries (e.g., “quarterly business review” or “onboarding checklist” if those are not explicit phrases in your data), use chat search, which is designed for more conversational and intent-based lookups.
Best Practices
- Do: Use specific keywords, names, or phrases that are likely to appear in the content you want to find.
- Example: “Jane Doe onboarding call” or “integration feedback”
- Don’t: Use vague, emotional, or intent-based queries, or try to combine multiple conditions in this UI.
- Example: “calls where the customer was angry” or “find all onboarding checklists” (unless those exact words appear)
- These types of queries are not supported in Universal Search, but you can use chat for more qualitative or intent-based searches.
- Do: Try different phrasings if you don’t find what you need on the first try.
- Do: Use the toggles to narrow your search to the most relevant content types.
Universal search results are limited by your workspace permissions and privacy settings. For advanced filtering options, use the recording filters in the Calls & Recordings section or the Signals view.
