BuildBetter’s Zoom app allows you to start call recording directly from inside Zoom meetings, providing seamless integration with your existing Zoom workflow.

What is the Zoom App?

The BuildBetter Zoom app is available on the Zoom Marketplace and provides:
  • In-meeting controls: Start BuildBetter recording without leaving Zoom
  • One-click recording: No need to switch between applications
  • Automatic sync: Recordings appear in your BuildBetter workspace
  • Meeting context: Participant and title information captured automatically

Installation

Install from Zoom Marketplace

Access Zoom Marketplace

Visit the BuildBetter Zoom App page Or search for “BuildBetter” in the Zoom Marketplace

Add to Zoom

Click “Add” or “Install” Approve requested permissions

Connect BuildBetter Account

Sign in with your BuildBetter account Authorize the connection between Zoom and BuildBetter

You need a BuildBetter account to use the Zoom app. Sign up at buildbetter.ai if you haven’t already.

Using the Zoom App

Starting a Recording

During a Zoom meeting:
  1. Look for the BuildBetter app in your Zoom app panel
  2. Click to open the BuildBetter controls
  3. Click “Start Recording” to begin
  4. Recording continues until meeting ends

What Gets Recorded

  • Audio/Video: Full meeting recording
  • Transcript: Real-time transcription with speaker identification
  • Participants: Automatically captured from Zoom
  • Meeting Title: Taken from Zoom meeting name
  • Metadata: Date, time, duration

After the Meeting

Once the meeting ends:
  1. Recording automatically uploads to BuildBetter
  2. AI processes transcript and generates summary
  3. Signals are extracted from conversation
  4. Recording appears in your BuildBetter workspace
  5. Email notification sent (if enabled)

Settings

Recording Preferences

Configure in BuildBetter Settings:
  • Default Privacy: Workspace or Participants-only
  • Auto-Recording: Use bot recording rules instead of manual start
  • Notifications: Email summaries and updates

Zoom Integration

Manage in Zoom settings:
  • App permissions
  • Default behavior
  • Privacy preferences
For automatic recording of scheduled Zoom meetings, use BuildBetter’s calendar integration instead of the Zoom app. The Zoom app is best for ad-hoc recording control during meetings.

Permissions Required

The Zoom app requires these permissions:
  • Access meeting information
  • Record meetings
  • View participant list
  • Access chat (optional)
Ensure all meeting participants are aware when recording is active. Check your local laws and company policies regarding recording consent.

Troubleshooting

  • Verify app is installed from Zoom Marketplace
  • Check you’re signed into BuildBetter
  • Try closing and reopening Zoom
  • Ensure you’re in an active meeting
  • Verify you have recording permissions in Zoom
  • Check BuildBetter account is connected
  • Ensure meeting is not already being recorded by another method
  • Try refreshing the Zoom app panel
  • Wait 10-15 minutes for processing
  • Check your recordings list in BuildBetter
  • Verify recording completed successfully
  • Check spam folder for notification email
