Viewing Your Recordings

Recording Tabs

Organize your view with three convenient tabs:
View every recording you have access to across your workspace. This includes recordings you’ve created, those shared with you, and workspace-wide recordings.

Filtering and Sorting

Recording List Display

Each recording card shows essential information at a glance:
  • Visual preview: Thumbnail for video or waveform for audio
  • Title and duration: Quick identification of content
  • Date and time: When the recording occurred
  • Participants: Profile pictures of attendees
  • Processing status:
    • 🟢 Available - Ready to view
    • 🟡 Processing - Transcription in progress
    • 🔴 Unavailable - Processing required
  • Tags and labels: Quick content categorization
  • Privacy indicator: Workspace or participant-only access
Recordings load 50 at a time. Scroll down to automatically load more as you browse through your library.

Quick Actions

Hover over any recording to reveal quick actions:

Primary Actions

  • Play: Start watching or listening immediately
  • View Details: Open the full recording page
  • Add to Folder: Organize into collections
  • Share: Generate a shareable link

Additional Options

  • Download: Save the original file locally
  • Favorite: Mark important recordings for easy access
  • Copy Transcript: Export the full text
  • Delete: Remove recordings you no longer need

Uploading Recordings

Upload Methods

File Upload

Click “Upload Recording” to add existing audio or video files from your computer. Supports common formats like MP4, MOV, MP3, WAV, and more.

Record Locally

Available in the desktop app only. Record your screen, microphone, or both directly from BuildBetter.

Upload Process

  1. Click the Upload Recording button
  2. Select your file(s) or drag and drop
  3. Add a title and description (optional)
  4. Choose privacy settings
  5. Click upload to begin processing
Large files may take time to upload and process. You can navigate away and return later - processing continues in the background.

Bulk Operations

Manage multiple recordings efficiently:
  • Select multiple: Use checkboxes to select several recordings
  • Bulk actions:
    • Add to folder
    • Change privacy settings
    • Apply tags
    • Delete multiple recordings

Search Functionality

Find recordings quickly using the search bar:
  • Title search: Find by recording name
  • Transcript search: Search within the actual conversation
  • Participant search: Find by attendee names
  • Tag search: Locate by assigned tags
BuildBetter uses AI-powered search to find relevant content even when exact keywords don’t match. Try searching for concepts or topics discussed in your calls.

Privacy and Access

Each recording has configurable privacy settings:

Visibility Options

  • Workspace: All team members can access
  • Participants Only: Limited to meeting attendees
  • Custom Sharing: Invite specific individuals

Managing Access

  1. Click the privacy icon on any recording
  2. Choose your preferred visibility level
  3. Add or remove specific users as needed
  4. Changes apply immediately
Participants in a call always retain access and cannot be removed from the recording’s permissions.

Best Practices

Organize regularly: Use folders to group related recordings by project, client, or topic.
Tag consistently: Develop a tagging system your team understands and follows.
Review privacy: Ensure sensitive recordings have appropriate access restrictions.
Clean up: Delete test recordings and duplicates to keep your library manageable.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up your workflow with these shortcuts:
  • Space: Play/pause selected recording
  • ↑/↓: Navigate between recordings
  • Enter: Open recording details
  • Delete: Remove selected recording
  • Cmd/Ctrl + A: Select all visible recordings
