Setup Instructions
Prerequisites
- An active BuildBetter account
- A Segment account with write key access
- Admin permissions in BuildBetter
Connecting Segment
- Go to Settings → Integrations in your BuildBetter dashboard
- Select Segment from the analytics integrations section
- Enter your Segment write key
- Choose which events to track (or select “All Events”)
- Click Connect to activate the integration
Configuring Destinations in Segment
After connecting BuildBetter to Segment:- Log in to your Segment dashboard
- Go to Sources and find the BuildBetter source
- Add and configure destinations (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Map BuildBetter events to your destination requirements
- Enable the destinations to begin receiving data
Usage
Tracked Events
The following events from BuildBetter are tracked in Segment:Event Name | Description |

Identity Resolution
BuildBetter sends the following user traits to Segment:- User ID
- First and Last Name
- Organization Name
- Role
- Signup Date
Custom Properties
You can configure additional custom properties to be sent with each event:- Go to Settings → Integrations → Segment → Properties
- Select the events you want to customize
- Add custom properties to include with each event
- Save your configuration
Troubleshooting
Events Not Appearing in Segment
- Verify your Segment write key is correct
- Check that Segment source is not paused
- Ensure no API call limits have been reached
Data Latency Issues
If there’s a delay in events appearing:- Check Segment’s status page for any ongoing issues
- Verify your network connectivity
- Confirm destination settings in Segment
Security and Compliance
- All data sent to Segment is encrypted in transit
- Consider using Segment’s Privacy Portal for GDPR and CCPA compliance
- Review which sensitive data is being sent through this integration
