The BuildBetter Shortcut integration allows you to create stories, epics, and tasks directly from your meeting recordings, helping you bridge the gap between customer conversations and your development workflow.

Setup Instructions

Prerequisites

  • An active BuildBetter account
  • Shortcut account with administrative access
  • API token for Shortcut

Connecting Shortcut

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations in your BuildBetter dashboard
  2. Select Shortcut from the project integrations section
  3. Enter your Shortcut API token
  4. Select your default workspace and team
  5. Test the connection and save

Configuring Shortcut Settings

After connecting:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Shortcut → Configuration
  2. Configure:
    • Default workspace and team
    • Story type and state mappings
    • Custom field mappings
    • Default labels and milestones
  3. Save your configuration

Usage

Creating Stories from Meetings

Create Shortcut stories directly from meeting content:

  1. Open any recording in BuildBetter
  2. Select a relevant segment in the transcript
  3. Click the Create Story button
  4. Select the Shortcut workspace and team
  5. Fill in story details, leveraging the selected transcript segment
  6. Submit to create the story in Shortcut

Linking to Existing Epics

Connect meeting content to Shortcut epics:

  1. From a recording or document, click Link to Epic
  2. Search for and select the relevant Shortcut epic
  3. Add a reference note (optional)
  4. Link the meeting recording, clip, or transcript segment
  5. Save to establish the connection

Automated Action Items

Extract action items as Shortcut tasks:

  1. Go to a completed meeting recording
  2. Navigate to the Action Items tab
  3. Review automatically detected action items
  4. Select items to create as Shortcut tasks
  5. Assign owners and due dates
  6. Submit to create the tasks in Shortcut

Advanced Features

Custom Workflows

Create automation rules between BuildBetter and Shortcut:

  1. Go to Settings → Automation Rules
  2. Create rules based on:
    • Meeting tags or topics
    • Specific phrases in transcripts
    • Meeting participants or roles
  3. Configure how stories should be formatted and labeled
  4. Enable the automation rule

Field Mapping

Map BuildBetter data to custom Shortcut fields:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shortcut → Field Mapping
  2. Configure mappings for:
    • Standard Shortcut fields (name, description)
    • Custom fields in your Shortcut workspace
    • BuildBetter metadata (meeting date, participants)
  3. Save your mapping configuration
