Connect BuildBetter with Notion to import existing Notion pages into BuildBetter as documents or knowledge base pages, and automatically push call summaries, transcripts, and other artifacts back into Notion.

Overview

The Notion integration is a two-way connection:
  • Import (Notion → BuildBetter): Bring Notion pages into BuildBetter — preserving page hierarchy — and convert them into documents or knowledge base pages. Resync at any time.
  • Export (BuildBetter → Notion): Push call summaries, full transcripts, or both into a Notion page of your choosing. Configure automatic exports so new calls flow into Notion without manual steps.

Prerequisites

  • Active Notion workspace
  • Permission to install integrations in your Notion workspace
  • BuildBetter organization admin access

Connection Steps

Connect Notion

Go to Settings → Integrations in BuildBetter and find Notion in the Documentation category. Click Connect.

Authorize in Notion

Sign in to Notion and select the workspace and pages BuildBetter is allowed to access. You can grant access to specific pages or the whole workspace.

Choose what to import (optional)

From the integration settings, pick which pages or page trees to import. Choose whether each is brought in as a document or a knowledge base page.

Configure auto-export (optional)

Open Auto-export settings to push new call summaries and/or transcripts to a chosen Notion page automatically. Choose whether to combine content on a single page or split it into separate pages.

Importing Pages from Notion

From the Notion import dialog you can:
  • Search and browse the pages BuildBetter has access to
  • Pick individual pages or whole subtrees
  • Choose document vs knowledge base page as the import target
  • Preserve nested hierarchies — child pages keep their relationship to their parents
  • Resync any page later to pull in updated content
Use knowledge base for evergreen content (style guides, ICPs, playbooks) and documents for one-off references you want surfaced alongside calls and signals.

Exporting to Notion

Manual Export from a Call

  1. Open any call in BuildBetter
  2. Click Export → Notion
  3. Choose what to send:
    • Summary only
    • Transcript only
    • Both — combined on a single page, or split into two pages
  4. Pick the destination Notion workspace and parent page
  5. Click Export
BuildBetter creates the page(s) in Notion with full formatting, citations, and links back to the call.

Automatic Export

Configure auto-export to push every new completed call to Notion:
  • Set the target workspace and parent page
  • Choose what content to push (summary, transcript, or both)
  • Choose combined vs split page layout
  • Toggle on/off at any time from integration settings
Temporary Notion API failures during export are now retried automatically rather than being dropped.

Multi-Workspace Support

You can connect multiple Notion workspaces to a single BuildBetter organization. When importing or exporting, you pick which workspace to use. This is useful for teams that maintain separate Notion workspaces for product, engineering, and customer-facing docs.

  • Customer call digest: Auto-push every customer call summary to a dedicated Notion page so account owners get a single source of truth
  • Engineering handoff: Push call transcripts to engineering’s Notion workspace when feedback needs technical context
  • Knowledge base import: Bring your existing Notion playbooks and ICPs into BuildBetter as knowledge base pages so AI chat can reference them
  • PRD drafting: Send the summary of a discovery call into a PRD template page in Notion

Troubleshooting

Notion pages not appearing in the picker
  • BuildBetter can only see pages your Notion integration has been granted access to. Open Notion → Settings → Integrations → BuildBetter and confirm the relevant pages are shared.
  • Use the search box; the picker ranks title matches first.
Export looks empty or the page is missing content
  • Confirm the call has finished processing in BuildBetter
  • Re-run the export — temporary Notion API errors are now retried automatically
Export dialog hangs or auto-push settings don’t save
  • Reload the dialog. Recent reliability fixes resolved cases where the dialog could hang or settings failed to persist. If the issue continues, reconnect Notion.
Connection shows “needs reauthorization”
  • Open Settings → Integrations → Notion and reconnect. OAuth tokens can be revoked from the Notion side, which marks the connection as needing reauth.

Security

  • OAuth-based authentication — no API keys stored
  • BuildBetter only accesses Notion pages you explicitly share with the integration
  • All traffic is encrypted in transit
  • You can revoke BuildBetter’s access at any time from Notion’s integration settings
