Overview

The Gong integration allows you to import call recordings from Gong into BuildBetter for AI-powered analysis. This is an import-only integration that uses Gong’s API to fetch calls based on date ranges and configurable filters.

Authentication

The Gong integration uses Basic Authentication with:
  • Gong API username
  • Gong API key
Note: OAuth is not currently supported.

How It Works

  1. Connect BuildBetter to Gong using your API credentials
  2. Configure date range and optional filters
  3. BuildBetter imports matching calls and transcripts
  4. Imported calls are processed through BuildBetter’s AI analysis
  5. BuildBetter automatically checks for new calls every 6 hours

Setup Instructions

  1. Generate Gong API Credentials
    • Log in to your Gong account
    • Go to Settings > API
    • Generate a new API key
    • Save your username and API key
  2. Connect in BuildBetter
    • Navigate to Settings > Integrations
    • Select Gong from recording import integrations
    • Enter your Gong username and API key
    • Click Connect
  3. Configure Import
    • Set date range for calls to import
    • Optionally configure filters (see below)
    • Click Import to begin

Available Filters

Participant Email

Import only calls where specific email addresses participated.

Call Type

Filter by Internal or External call scope.

Title Contains

Import only calls with specific keywords in the title.

Title Does Not Contain

Exclude calls with specific keywords in the title.

Combining Filters

Use AND/OR logic to create complex filter rules.

Imported Data

  • Call metadata (title, duration, date, scope)
  • Full transcript with timestamps
  • Speaker identification
  • Participant information (name, email, title)
  • Video or audio recording URL

Limitations

  • Import only (no export to Gong)
  • Basic Authentication (no OAuth)
  • Date range import only (no tag-based triggers)
  • Full calls only (no excerpt import)
  • 6-hour polling interval (no real-time sync)
  • No metadata mapping UI
  • No company information enrichment
