Branding Controls

Survey branding is a small, deliberate theme system rather than a full page builder:
intro_text is respondent-facing and deliberately separate from the internal brief describing why you’re running the survey. Don’t paste your research goals into it.
A “Powered by BuildBetter” footer is visible by default.

Uploading Assets

Logo and background images upload through the survey branding asset endpoint. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, WEBP, GIF, and SVG, up to 10 MB. Files stream to an organization-scoped key and return a signed public asset route stored on the survey’s branding record — which means respondent-facing branding works without requiring ImageKit configuration in the API environment.
If a branding asset URL is later deleted or changed, the respondent page still renders readably using default colors and background. Broken branding degrades; it doesn’t break the survey.

What Respondents See

The respondent page is built to feel credible next to Typeform, Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics — while staying a focused task rather than a marketing landing page.
  • Your logo when configured, plus a tasteful BuildBetter-powered footer.
  • The survey name and your introduction stay visible above the active question.
  • Your primary color drives primary actions, progress, focus states, and selected options.
  • Light and dark modes both render without text contrast failures.
  • A progress indicator and a stable question count.
  • Question descriptions for non-follow-up questions.
  • Follow-up prompts rendered as part of the same conversation, but clearly marked as follow-ups.
  • Mobile layouts without text overlap or layout shift.

The AI processing state

When a respondent submits an answer to a follow-up-enabled question, the answer controls are replaced with an explicit saving/reviewing state while the backend decides whether a follow-up is worth asking. This is a real wait with visible feedback, not a decorative spinner — and it may resolve to no follow-up at all, which is normal.

Completion

The survey ends on a polished completion state showing your thank_you_message. Because follow-ups are dynamic, respondents reach it after a variable number of questions.

Previewing

The preview renders the actual respondent page theme, not an email approximation — so what you review is what respondents get. Preview emails link to a fillable saved survey using survey-specific sender identity. Verify both desktop and mobile composition before activating. The states worth checking specifically: logo, introduction, progress, theme color, light and dark mode, question description, the AI processing state, a follow-up prompt, and the completion state.
